Welcombe Meadow

The Safari Lodges, Taw and Torridge, are named after two local rivers and are situated in their own field set in 27 acres of farmland which is ideal for walks with your dogs and for children to explore.  They both sleep up to six in each and have everything you could need for your stay, from fresh linen to sumptuous showers. There is a fully equipped kitchen, wood burning stove/oven, huge sofa and en-suite shower and toilet pods. Take time just to snuggle up on the huge sofa and enjoy the wood burning range. Each tent has the following facilities; A luxurious leather sofa and armchair, smart TV with WiFi, woodburning stove and oven, large dining table and chairs, local guide books and information pack, games – in and outdoors, coffee table, fire guard for young children, outside, we’ve also included: Large grass play area, double hammock, outdoor deck seating, picnic table with BBQ and firepit, outside tap and electric socket.

Each tent has a fully equipment kitchen to include; complimentary tea, coffee and sugar, milk, two hob gas cooker and microwave, undercounter fridge with freezer compartment, belfast sink, On-demand hot water, toaster, crockery and cutlery for 6, tea towels, dish clothes and kitchen roll, pots and pans, with a paella dish for breakfasts!

The tents have two bedrooms ; one with a double and the other with twin beds and a double bed housed in a cabin pod. All linen is provided, with electric blankets on each bed to keep you extra cosy on those colder nights. There is also plenty of storage space for luggage in the tent. If you have a young child we can provide a travel cot and chair, at no extra charge.

There is no need to walk outside to shower as each tent has its own huge shower with on demand hot water and a separate toilet pod. These come with towels and complimentary toiletries.

To keep your children or even adults entertained there is a separate communal games room where there is a range of games and activities; a full size pool and air hockey table. Play singles or doubles at table tennis or see if you beat the goalie playing mini football. Explore the games box to see what you can take down to the tent to play.

Explore the 27 acres of farmland via the wobbly bridge to spot some fantastic wildlife, roe dear and buzzards are common visitors. If you are lucky you may see a fox or red kite searching for lunch. In the woodland there are bluebells and primroses in spring plus the smell of wild garlic by the stream. In the autumn look out for mushrooms and hazelnuts.

If you are keen on alfresco cooking, there is a bbq and firepit and you can purchase some local sausages and burgers. If your plan is to relax and kick back you can order in advance or within 24 hrs breakfast and meal hampers or book and cook your own wood fired pizzas right next to your tent.

A lot of our guests enjoy coming back to Welcombe Meadow as they have said that they have enjoyed the peaceful location, the comfort and personal touches that we offer for our guests. What is quite popular is that you also have the added advantage of hiring the site to yourselves to include 27 acres of farmland and both tents that sleep up to 12 people which is ideal for family get togethers or partying with friends.
