Just Us Retreats

Choose between Bathsheba – the shepherd’s hut, set at the top of a sweeping field with incredible views – or Gabriel, the bell tent, tucked away in the seclusion of a sunlit glade within an oak tree copse. Both offer privacy and seclusion…although you may need to share with our resident owls and hares!

We launched on 28 April 2016 and we pride ourselves on being a small, family-run venture, consisting of the shepherd’s hut, ‘Bathsheba’ – sited in its own private four-acre field – and the bell tent, ‘Gabriel’, in a two-acre copse. We invite you to escape from your busy life and hectic daily schedule by retreating to the comfort of our hidden farm in the heart of the Mid Devon countryside. You will enjoy privacy and seclusion, with sole access in either ‘Tom Clarke’s Hayfield’ where the shepherd’s hut is situated or in ‘Gabriel’s Copse’ with our bell tent. Both are perfect for romantic retreats, and the six-metre bell tent is ideal for families, sleeping up to six.

Both Bathsheba and Gabriel have wood burning stoves and we provide plenty of logs, firelighters and matches. Both sites have a fully equipped outdoor kitchen stocked with all the necessary kitchen cupboard essentials such as cling film, kitchen roll, matches, olive oil, mayo, ketchup, mustards etc. They both have outdoor hot-water showers, which is a fantastic experience in itself, showering under the trees and ‘Faith in Nature’ shampoo, conditioner and body wash are also provided. Both sites also have private, flushing loos.

We are delighted to offer you a complimentary yummy Devon cream tea – of course! And a pot of marshmallows, both will be waiting for you at your site.

Why not order a delicious homemade dish from the Farmer’s Wife’s Kitchen Menu, so that you can spend your holiday time unwinding in front of an open fire, listening to birdsong or the occasional bleat from a lamb as the sun sets and you sip your favourite tipple?  Or perhaps you’ll feel more energetic and fancy a game of tennis on our private tennis court or a walk around our beautiful farm?  Or visit one of our fabulous nearby pubs…decisions, decisions!  But whatever you decide, we aim to make your stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
