Holly Water

Our Shepherd huts are positioned in the most beautiful location in rural mid Devon. They provide the perfect romantic retreat and an escape from the demands of everyday life – somewhere to enjoy life’s small and simple pleasures while you recharge your batteries.

We aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible but also want you to be able to enjoy the luxury and pleasures of a truly perfect holiday. Our power supply for the Shepherd huts themselves is entirely solar and propane gas and we are run on an entirely ‘off-grid’ system. With this you can be as cosy and comfortable as you could ever wish for. You have your own private kitchen facilities, lovely en-suite shower and toilet room, hand-built king size beds with lovely comfy mattresses, full heating and a beautiful wood burner for those cosy, relaxed evenings. Alternatively you might prefer to spend your evening outside enjoying a barbecue on your fire-pit or chilling in our wonderfully crafted wood-fired hot tubs. Either of these options could be well earned if you spent the day exploring the local lanes on the bikes provided for your use!

We also have our own water supply which is brought to you with the aid of a solar pump so we are proud to be performing in as eco-friendly a manor as we can and we are sure you will love all that you find here. Although there are not plugs for hairdryers, toasters, microwaves or some of the other things we might have at home we do have DVD players (and a variety of films if you wanted to borrow them), small Ipod/phone speakers for music and USB charge points for your phones or tablets. There is no wifi or telephone in the huts (although obviously a multitude of pubs, cafes etc in the surrounding area have access to these if you wanted it).

Our Shepherd huts sit in one of our sheep fields and the sheep have favourite resting places below the mature oak trees. The flock is named after the abundant bluebells that transform one of the fields into a blue carpet in May. Hence it made perfect sense for our huts to take their names from these same features of the land. We have ‘Oak’ and ‘Bluebell’ for you to choose from. Each is beautifully made for 2 and filled to give you a perfect base for your Devon holiday.

On your arrival you will find a welcome basket with all that you need to make a ‘cuppa’ and settle right in. Extras can always be added by arrangement or you can upgrade your basket to one of our 3 larger baskets: The Cream Tea, The Big Breakfast or The Combo Basket*. You will also find your lovely king sized bed ready made up and waiting for you, wood to light up your log burner, firepit or hot tub. The en-suite has towels provided and carefully sourced toiletries available for your use**. During your stay you may wish to order from the farmhouse kitchen menu which is available in your information guide and includes a variety of ‘ready’ meals prepared for your convenience using our own farm produce and local ingredients which you will just need to pop in the oven. We also have a good range of farm produced meat and eggs available to order before your trip or daily whilst you are here.
