Glamping means different things to different people… to us it means sleeping close to nature, in a beautiful bell tent, with a stove, real beds and a proper mattress. All of our beds are complete with big soft feather duvets and pillows for a cozy night’s sleep! It’s so peaceful here, the only thing you’ll hear are the birds singing, the occasional baaing of a sheep or mooing of one of our Jersey cows. Deer’s Leap is a beautiful country escape!
Guest always comment that they feel instantly at home here, and that we have a peaceful timeless atmosphere. It’s a wonderful feeling to wake up refreshed, enjoy the far-reaching views over miles of countryside and closer to your tent the lake and ponies. Our five bell tents, three 5m tents and two 6m tents, have rugs, floor cushions and tea and coffee, each tent also has its own set of twinkling string lights, perfect for a relaxed and magical atmosphere.
Groups are welcome and can book all 5 bell tents, which can sleep a group of between 10 and 16 depending on the configuration you are looking for. Deer’s Leap is also a lovely place for children, old fashion country pass times entertain and amuse children from rolling down the banks, fishing by the lake, picking and making daisy chains and hide and seek, the grounds are an idyllic playground.
There are always the chickens to feed, ponies to pat and Poppy, Deer’s Leap’s Beagle to run about with. We also have a wonderful all-season tennis court, so bring a racket or toddler bike, hours of fun can be had on its ever-green surface. We also have a large games barn with Pool, table tennis and darts.
We are a great base to get out and explore the local area, North Devon itself enjoys unique and varied landscapes and some of the country’s most stunning and breath-taking coastline. Scenery in and around Deer’s Leap Retreat is one of England’s hidden treasures, and those who discover us, find they want to return again and again.
The area has an abundance of wild birds, pheasants, buzzards, the hedgerow are full of wildflowers and the local villages hold many chocolate box cottages. We can recommend many walks strait from your tent, but a short drive will allow you to access the best of Exmoor National Park and stunning beaches.
Local activities include horse riding, fishing, golf and clay shooting. Regular tours of the moor leave from Dulverton, an ideal way to explore the area.
Deer’s Leap is within easy reach of many local attractions, The Ancient Causeway of Tarr Steps, Anstey Common, Landacre Bridge and Dunkery Beacon to name a few. Several charming villages are also nearby including Dulverton, Winsford, Withypool and Exford.
Deer’s Leap is also within easy access of Croyde, Saunton sands, Woolacoombe and Lynton and Lynmouth. You can keep everybody happy with alternate day trips to the beach and local attractions.
