This luxurious off-grid cabin is set in it’s own secluded woodland glade and is perfect for a romantic getaway. You are welcome to explore the woodland which has been described by Devon Wildlife Trust as “a mosaic of habitats”. The cabin is handcrafted from wood, some of which is the product of Bulworthy Project’s own woodland work. From the rustic frame of naturally fallen heartwood oak at the front of the cabin to the window ledges of cherry wood harvested as part of restoring an area of coppice, every part of the building combines the highest standards of ecology with the exquisite beauty of wood.
Electricity is provided by solar and the water is heated by a woodburner, which creates a lovely cosy feel for romantic evenings. Within it’s little glade the cabin has it’s own private campfire and barbecue so that you can enjoy the great outdoors. Inside you will find all the creature comforts that you need. With it’s en suite and kitchenette everything is carefully designed to fit all the facilities that you would expect from somewhere much larger into a small space. The off grid electrics don’t include any 240v sockets, but the cabin is equipped with WiFi, an electric coolbox and USB sockets so that you can charge your phone.
As well as a working woodland, Bulworthy Project is a venue for courses and events. It’s well worth checking their website to see if there is anything on that would add to your stay. Whether a bow making course or a pop up café in the woods, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. There are pigs and sheep to meet and from some places in the woods you have a view of Dartmoor on a clear day. The woodland is managed for charcoal, and you will find a bag of charcoal waiting for you when you arrive.
Bulworthy Project holds a gold award from Devon Wildlife Trust for working to benefit Devon’s wildlife and natural environment and every aspect of the enterprise has been thought out with the environment in mind.
Just off the A361 and only a few miles from Exmoor, this is a great spot from which to explore, but most people who stay in the cabin are there to enjoy the seclusion of it’s position in the woods and the luxury of such a well thought out space.
